One of the events, which will be repeated on an annual basis, was the Dare Bear Drive . Designed and developed by the youth group members, the drive brought together the two local English language elementary schools and the local English language high school (LTM). Children at the elementary level were encouraged to donate their stuffed animals, and the high school students sponsored them for $2. The animals were cleaned and vacuumed one by one, and once they were sponsored, were tagged and sent to the children's hospital for distribution at Christmastime. The money raised has been put aside for our community “foster family”, for whom we will be collecting funds throughout the remainder of the school year. This opportunity not only helped us to help others, but opened the eyes of the community to what God is doing for the youth here. Many young people were introduced to the group; and we don't know what is to transpire because of our presence. It's exciting! A few of the members will be attending the Winter Frost weekend in February. Please remember them in your prayers. We will be having a dessert fundraiser in the near future as well, so please keep your ears posted for that event. Your continued prayers for this outreach are always welcomed! We have a strong community of faithful believers. God is in our midst! Let Him work through us! Christine Sandilands |
